Elizabeth 'Lissa' Yanak - MA, LPC, NCC, RPT
Feeling like there's got to be more to life than struggling to just get by? Itching to say 'yes' to more, but scared of the unknown? Tired of drowning in the darkness and ready to breathe freely in the light? You're not alone. There's more for you than the struggle: You were made to thrive.
Lissa obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Grove City College and her dual Master of Arts in community and school counseling from Regent University. She also completed specialized training in play therapy at Old Dominion University and is certified as a Registered Play Therapist. Lissa has also pursued specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Lissa obtained licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Pennsylvania and Virginia and is recognized as a Nationally Certified Counselor.
Lissa gained experience working as an intensive in home therapist for several years, providing individual and family therapeutic intervention to at risk youth, assisting with transitions into and out of foster care, and advocating for clients in the school and community environments. Lissa has seen the power of alternative intervention, including play, art, music, and movement techniques, in assisting patients of all ages to process experiences, find their voice, and communicate effectively. Creative outlets provide a safe space for the client to understand the underlying roots of symptoms and practice appropriate coping skills.
Whether it be working through grief and loss, anxiety, transitions, trauma, social skills, behavioral management, or mood concerns, Lissa considers it an honor to support patients as they own their story, identify their dreams, and experience the freedom to be their best self now.
