Hannah Gross, LPC
Hannah is a Licensed Professional Counselor who works exclusively with children, teens, and young adults. She began her career as a K-8 school counselor, then transitioned to doing school-based outpatient therapy. While she still loves working with students in the school setting, she has developed an appreciation for therapy that takes place completely outside the bounds of school.
In recent years, she has worked with children, teens, and "college kids" in an outpatient setting, focusing on a wide range of emotional, mental, and behavioral goals. Some common themes in her work include: processing trauma, coping with stress, anger, anxiety and depression, building self-esteem, developing self-advocacy and initiative, improving communication, navigating growing up, and exploring identity.
Working with this age group is more than a job, it is a calling and an honor. Her primary objective is to create a space where her young clients feel safe, accepted, cared about, understood, and important. She is a “kid-at-heart” and knows it shows in her ability to connect with and support her clients. You often hear those in helping professions talk about their “why” – what it is that brought them to the field and inspires them to keep going. Hannah’s “why” is summarized in a piece by therapist Garry Landreth called “Principles for Relationships with Children.” He writes “I cannot make children’s hurts and fears and frustrations and disappointments go away. Therefore I will soften the blow.” No one can make life's challenges totally disappear for you or your child, but Hannah will be there to help them cope, grow, and heal.
