Hannah Gross, LPC
Hi there, my name's Hannah! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor who works exclusively with children, teens, and young adults. I began my career as a K-8 school counselor, then transitioned to doing school-based outpatient therapy. While I still love working with students in the school setting, I have developed an appreciation for therapy that takes place completely outside the bounds of school. In recent years, I've worked with children, teens, and "college kids" in an outpatient setting, focusing on a wide range of emotional, mental, and behavioral goals. Some common themes in our work include: processing trauma; coping with stress, anger, anxiety and depression; building self-esteem; developing self-advocacy and initiative; improving communication; navigating growing up; and exploring your identity.
Working with this age group is more than a job, it is a calling and an honor. My primary objective is to create a space where my young clients feel safe, accepted, cared about, understood, and important. I am a “kid-person” at heart and I know it shows in my ability to connect with and support my clients. You often hear those in helping professions talk about their “why” – what it is that brought them to the field and inspires them to keep going. My why is summarized in a piece by therapist Garry Landreth called “Principles for Relationships with Children.” He writes “I cannot make children’s hurts and fears and frustrations and disappointments go away. Therefore I will soften the blow.” No one can make life's challenges totally disappear for you or your child, but I will be there to help them cope, grow, and heal.
