Jerry McCombs - BA, MBA

Professional Background

After spending 24 years in collegiate athletics and higher education enrollment management, Jerry leverages his unique combination of College Admissions experience at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels to help students in their quest to gain admission to the schools they aspire to attend. 

Leadership in Higher Education

During his time at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, Jerry oversaw and established admissions processes for multiple health-science professional programs. His mastery of the Liaison WebAdMIT system earned him strong respect within the professional-school community. He also served as President of the Pennsylvania Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals (PAGAP).

Director-Level Expertise

In May of 2019, Jerry was selected to become the Admissions Manager at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and eventually became the Director of Admissions for the School of Dental Medicine, which is annually recognized as one of the nation's top 10 Dental Schools. He led admissions for the DMD, Advanced Standing Program for internationally trained dentists, specialty residency programs, and dental hygiene programs. In 2022, he was appointed as one of 10 Dental School Directors of Admission to serve on the ADEA AADSAS National Advisory Board, contributing to national improvements in dental-school admissions, including transitioning first acceptance offers to December 15 each year.

Commitment to Student Support

In February 2024, Jerry stepped away from his role at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine to continue his personal mission of helping students achieve their goal of being accepted to College, Dental, Medical or health science school they aspire to attend. The impact and insight of Jerry’s work could be seen 2024-2025 application cycle which resulted in 100% of students applying to dental school being accepted at 28 institutions, 84% of which matriculated to their #1 choice. Additionally, some of his students matched into four of the nation's most distinguished orthodontic residency programs.

Student Outcomes & Success

  • Dental School:
    100% acceptance rate across 28 institutions, with 84% admitted to their first choice. Several students matched into top orthodontic residency programs.

  • Medical School:
    Students accepted to more than 15 medical schools, with 100% beginning classes in Fall 2025.

  • Undergraduate College:
    Students received multiple offers and were 65–75% more likely than the average applicant to gain entry into top schools.

  • Competitive Applicants:
    Students with strong GPAs and DAT/MCAT scores achieved a 100% admission rate, with 84% accepted to their #1 choice.
